Irma Vallejo Lugo, life-long resident of Donna, TX, passed away in her home on Wednesday, July 28, 2021.
She was born on January 28, 1941 in Weslaco, TX to Amparo and Florentino Vallejo. A longtime educator for Donna ISD for 45 years, she was a champion of education and passionate about making classrooms and schools work for all students and parents. Ms. Lugo retired from the district in 2016. She lived a life of service, helping those around her in both her professional and personal life.
She is survived by her five children - Norma, Olga, Rogelio Jr., Rolando and Dahlinda; her siblings, two brothers, Israel and Isaac and sisters, Idolina, Hilda, Ruth, Irasema and Mandy. She is loved by her 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Vallejo and her sister Irene.
The family would like to extend their sincere heartfelt thanks for all the love and support given during this time. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 1st with a viewing open to the public 1-8pm and a rosary beginning at 6pm at Hawkins Funeral Home 501 N. Salinas Blvd. in Donna. Funeral home opens at 7:30am on Monday, August 2nd followed by a 9am burial service at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.
Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend will be missed dearly.
