Irena (Gromak) Marcisz, 88, formerly of Forestville, died on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at River Ridge at Avon, an Assisted Living Facility. She was born in Poland to the late Wincenty and Rozalia Gromak. In 1966, she and her family immigrated to the U.S. and settled in New Britain. She retired from Johnson & Johnson Medical as an assembly technician after many years of dedicated service. In her leisure time, Irena enjoyed traveling, cruising and camping with her children and grandchildren. Her warm, caring nature will be greatly missed. Irena is survived by her children, Ted Marcisz and wife Maria, Anna Hayes, Zdzislaw Marcisz and companion Maren McCarthy and Peter Marcisz and wife Caroline; her grandchildren: Elise, Jessica, Gregory, Natalie, Greta, Stella, and Peyton; her four great grandchildren and nieces and nephews in Poland. In addition to her parents, Irena was predeceased in 2017 by Jozef Marcisz, her beloved husband of 67 years. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, February 12 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Face coverings are mandatory. Social distancing and capacity limitations will be strictly observed. There are no public calling hours. She will be laid to rest privately beside her husband in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
