Ira Johnson Dyer, Jr. "Johnny" passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at the University of Maryland Medical System at Easton. He was 94.
He was born on February 3, 1927 in Georgetown, DE, the son of the late Ira Johnson Dyer, Sr., and Helen Derrickson Dyer.
After his education, Johnny enlisted in the United States Navy in 1944. He was honorably discharged in 1946.
He Married Diane McMahan Dyer on February 22, 1969 and they made their home in Federalsburg. He founded Lucy's Flowers in Federalsburg and later worked for E.I. DuPont, was a barber, and later retired from Tri Gas and Oil as a service technician.
He was a life-long member of the Federalsburg Vol. Fire Company where he served as past Vice President, President, and Treasurer. He was also the past Commander of the Federalsburg VFW Post #5246. An avid outdoorsman, Johnny enjoyed fishing, crabbing and deer hunting.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Diane Dyer of Federalsburg, his brother-in-law Gerald McMahan and his wife Theresa of Federalsburg, a niece Kelly Carels and her husband Randy of Federalsburg and a nephew Kevin McMahan and his wife Tasha of Preston.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jon Ira Dyer.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 26, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg. Funeral and burial services will be private.
