Ingram Paperny, 89, of New Lebanon, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2018 at the Berkshire Medical Center. Born in the Bronx in 1929, he was the son of the late Solomon and Sarah Paperny.
Growing up Ingram was educated at Walden and Bronx High School of Science. He then went on to further his education, graduating from Alfred College and doing graduate work at Columbia. Ingram then served his country in the United States Army, which brought him both overseas and interning at the United Nations. After being honorably discharged, Ingram moved to New Lebanon, purchasing the Inn at Shaker Mill Farm in 1964. Ingram and his many friends used the Inn as a retreat into the serenity of the beautiful countryside. The Inn had many uses over the years, including being a restaurant, a place for yoga and meditation, and so much more. Ingram was an enthusiast for life who certainly marched to the beat of his own drum. He never had any trouble making friends wherever life brought him. He was fluent in many languages, including French, German, Italian, Greek, German, and a little bit of Spanish. His larger-than-life personality will be remembered and missed by everyone who knew him.
Ingram is survived by his sister, Sheila (Alan Weisman) Ellis of Manhattan, his 3 nephews; Steven (Patricia Wheatley) Blauner of Westchester, NY, Peter (Margaret Tyre) Blauner of Brooklyn, and Andrew (Jill Furman) Blauner of Manhattan, several grand-nephews, and by his former wife, Patricia Julian of London. His remains were interred on the grounds of The Inn at Shaker Mill Farm and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Funeral services were entrusted with the Hall and Higgins Funeral Home, Stephentown, NY.
