April 29, 1928 - July 26, 2018 of Milwaukee. Born in Vienna, Austria to Lillian and Leo Thalhofer, she escaped the Nazi regime and moved to the United States with her parents in 1940.
The family settled in New York City where Inge attended Hunter College. In 1948, she met Harry Schopler at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After a short courtship, they married in New York. Inge and Harry settled in Milwaukee and raised a family in Whitefish Bay.
Inge was proud to be The First Lady of Congregation Shalom during Harry Schopler's presidency of the synagogue. For years, she was a fashion expert at several north shore area women's clothiers. Active in mahjong and bridge, Inge enjoyed playing with her regular groups. Inge proudly lived independently in Glendale until her final day.
She is preceded in death by husband of 63 years, Harry Schopler. Inge is survived by daughter Debra Schopler of Glendale, son Dr. Steven and Robin Ellis Schopler of Bakersfield, California, and granddaughters Lisa Schopler Resnikoff of Bethesda, Maryland, Ellen Schopler Freifeld of Philadelphia, and great-grandson Harry Samuel Resnikoff.
Funeral services 10 AM Monday, July 30, 2018 at Congregation Shalom, 7630 N. Santa Monica Blvd., Fox Point. Interment Mound Zion Cemetery, 14510 W. North Ave., Brookfield. Memorial gifts to Congregation Shalom, Alzheimer's Association, veteran support groups, or food bank charities of your choice are appreciated.
