Celebrating the Life of Inge Mariane Atkins
Inge Mariane Atkins, 80, of Marco Island, Florida, passed away on June 21, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Soby, on the island of Aero, Denmark, Inge brought a spirit of adventure and warmth to all who knew her.
At the young age of 16 she pursued her passion for cosmetology at Odense Technical School, Odense, Denmark. Graduating with Journeyman's status in various specialties, including hairdressing and beauty facials, Inge's skill and dedication paved the way for a successful career in cosmetology in the United States. She arrived in Houston, Texas November 1966.
In 1968, fate introduced Inge to the love of her life, Vincent Paul Atkins. They were married on January 1, 1970, at Faith Methodist Church in Champaign, Illinois. Together, they raised two children, Pia Atkins and Clinton Atkins.
Inge is survived by her husband, Vincent Atkins; her loving daughter, Pia Atkins; her son-in-law Dan Moisson and her adoring grandchildren, Sylvia Byron and Robert Byron. She is preceded in death by her sister, Ester, and brother, Hans.
The family will honor Inge's life with a private gathering at the family columbarium in Mount Hope Cemetery, Champaign, Illinois.
Inge Mariane Atkins will be forever remembered for her adventurous spirit, loving heart, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness and laughter. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the beauty she brought to this world.
