Ina Snow Smith passed away peacefully at White Oak Manor in York, South Carolina on October 12, 2022. The family will be forever grateful for the excellent love and care she received there.
Ina and her late husband Zollie "Bud" Smith Jr. were long-time residents of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Rock Hill, South Carolina. She was born August 3, 1932, in DeKalb County, Georgia, the youngest daughter of the late Fayette Clark Snow and Jewel Langley Snow. She graduated from Southwest DeKalb High School in 1949 and married Zollie on January 13, 1951. They raised their children in Atlanta, GA, Charlotte, NC, Murfreesboro, and Rock Hill.
Ina and Zollie were charter members of Trinity United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro. She willingly served in any capacity needed and continued that service later when she moved to Rock Hill. While living in Murfreesboro, she was active in all levels of Girl Scout leadership, both locally and council-wide. She was also a den mother for every one of her sons' Cub scout troops at some point. This woman loved scouting. She was director of many UNICEF drives and was very active in the community.
She and Daddy loved camping all over this country with family and church friends, especially at Tennessee Hills. In later years, they traveled and loved flea markets and auctions all over the southeast.
In addition to her husband, her parents, and her six older sisters, she was pre-deceased by one son, Harry Clark Smith and a great-great grandson Ezekiel "Zeke" Jay Poston.
Ina is survived by her children, Hope Long (Jeff) of Clover, SC; Andy Smith (Amy) of Winston-Salem, NC; Zollie Smith III (Renee) of King, NC; Sherri McWhorter (Gary) of Augusta, Ga; Richard "Boo" Smith (Shea) of Murrells Inlet, SC; and Megan Riordan (Mike) of York, SC, 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, (with two more on the way), one great-great-grandchild, beloved Grand-dog Sunday Pup, a host of nieces and nephews, and too many other loved ones and friends to count.
One of the greatest lessons our mama taught us was that you can never out give God. She showed us that every day and even in death she donated her body to the Medical University of South Carolina. Her greatest legacy to us all was her love. She loved her people, family and friends alike, fiercely and unconditionally, and if you were one of those people you never doubted it for a moment.
A memorial service will be held at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill 29732 on October 20, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. with visitation two hours before the service and on October 22, 2022 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Murfreesboro, Tennessee at 4:00 p.m. with visitation two hours prior.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Meals on Wheels of Horry County, P.O. Box 50862, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579 or Feed Stokes 5 K, PO Box 247 King NC 27021.
