Ignatius L. (Lou) Pejack, cherished father of Donna J. (Pejack) Terzak, died peacefully on Sunday, May 15, 2022 with his daughter at his side.
Lou was born on July 18, 1926 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to the late Ignacz and Berta Knoll Pejack. Lou was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Army in Germany. Lou had a great work ethic which allowed him to progress from a temporary plant operator to plant manager for Airco Industrial Gases, primarily in Warren, Ohio before retiring after nearly 25 years of service. Being a "snowbird" after retirement Lou lived in Bradenton, Florida, and Fairfield Glade Tennessee, and most recently Knoxville, Tennessee.
Lou is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years, Ann Rock Pejack, parents, brothers Stanley and Joseph Pejack, sister Zita Jacoby, and grand dogs Holly and Jackie B.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Donna, loving nieces and nephews, grand dog Corky, and a host of friends.
Lou was an avid sportsman in his younger years enjoying hiking, rabbit and deer hunting, and trout fishing as well as gardening. Later in life he enjoyed golfing and traveling. Lou was extremely proud of his Slovenian heritage having visited the homeland of his parents several times and he will be especially remembered for his enjoyment of polka music. He dearly loved his family, his many friends, and his caretakers at Ben Atchley State Veterans Home to whom he was extremely thankful for their care.
Visitation will be held at All Saints Catholic Church, 620 N. Cedar Bluff Road, Knoxville, Tennessee on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 5:00 p.m. Visitation will be preceded by a Rosary at 3:30 p.m. There will be a Celebration of Life following in the Parish Hall. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on June 24, 2022 with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Smoky Mountain Service Dogs (110 Tooweka Circle, Loudon, TN 37724), Human Animal Bond in Tennessee (HABIT) Program, (University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine, 2407 River Drive, Knoxville, Tennessee 37996), or charity of your choice.
