Ida Mae Laster-Kyle completed her earthly assignment and began the journey into Heaven on January 4, 2022. She was the fifth child born to Wilson and Lela (Magee) Johnson on December 29, 1935, in Wardell, Missouri.
Ida moved to South Bend from Arkansas in the early 1950s, and worked more than 30 years for Allied Bendix before retiring. She had a strong work ethic, resilience spirit, and enjoyed traveling - the Bahamas, Bermuda, Las Vegas, and Phoenix were a few of her favorite locations.
Ida valued family, no sacrifice was too great in demonstrating her love and support. Her direct family lineage consist of 7 children, 27 grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren, and 18 great-great grandchildren. She adopted and raised two granddaughters, Sheri and Kenesha Laster. Ida was considered the Matriarch of the family.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Kyle; one daughter, Freddie Jean Laster; four sons, Wayne and Terry (Lytra) Laster, Marcus and Antonius Northern; one brother, Wilson (Jessie) Johnson, Jr., and three sisters, Albert (George) Husband, Alice Allen, Mary Ann (Tony) Bethel, several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other family members.
Preceding her in death are parents, Wilson Lela (Magee) Johnson; two children, Loretta and Kenneth Laster; seven sisters, Lorraine Franklin, Delores Redding, Gloria Ellis, Maybeline Lovelady, Ella Mae, Sarah and Levunia Johnson; five brothers, Leroy, Cornelius, Sylvester, Levenus and Lorenzo Johnson.
Family and others will forever remember the life and celebrate the legacy of a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend to many.
