Ida Lyon of Groveton, Texas, formerly of Columbia, Texas was born on August 15,1949 in Houston, TX to the late Deforest Taylor Lyon and Elizabeth (Duckett) Lyon and went to her eternal home on May 15,2021 at the age of 71 years in Crockett, TX. Ida worked in the nursing field for many years. She first traveled to Saudi Arabia for a year and came to back to Houston to work for MD Anderson. She then worked at the hospital in Columbia as a radiation oncologist until her retirement. Ida loved to travel and spent much of her time flying or driving to see tourist attractions or historical sights. She also enjoyed crocheting and reading. Ida also spent much of her time after retirement volunteering at Maury Regional Hospital and Columbia First United Methodist Church. She was a long-time member of Columbia First United Methodist Church and moved her membership to First United Methodist Church of Groveton. She participated with the local United Methodist Women with the events for the church or community. She also was a member of the Groveton Lions Club. Ms. Lyon is survived by her loving Sister, Betty Sellers of Groveton, TX; Nephew, Larry Lawrence Sellers of Pasadena, TX; Niece, Beth Dimmick of Plainfield, IN; Niece, Kristen Sellers of Galveston, TX; and a host of other relatives and friends also survive.
