Hugh J. Henderson, 65, of Newark, Delaware, passed away in his sleep on August 28, 2022.
He was born in Norfolk, VA, on July 4th, 1957, to the late Robert E. and Ada Marsh Henderson. He grew up in Rome, NY, and graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1975 and SUNY Geneseo in 1979.
He was a buyer for Coatesville Scrap for 30 years. His son, Bobby, said it best "He lived a simple life. He loved his family, his work, his condo at the beach, reading, Irish Whiskey, the Red Sox, and the Bills." Hugh was not a joiner but was a founding member of the Cedar Neck Fireball Society. He would not want a "flowery" or long obituary so these are "the facts, just the facts".
Hugh is survived by his wife of 39 years, Deborah Smith Henderson; children, Robert (Laura) of Holland, PA, Kathleen Regina of Langhorne, PA, and Christopher of Pittsburgh, PA; granddaughters, Olivia and Lucy Henderson; siblings, Robin Logan, David Henderson (Sabrina), and Ruth Flanders (Steve); nephew, Joshua Henderson; sister-in-law, Katie Iko; and brother-in-law, Gavin Smith (Mary).
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, Delaware. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 7, 2022. Interment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
A GoFundMe account, "Hugh Henderson's Music Program Memorial Fund" has been created for those who wish to make a donation in his memory.
