Huberta Annette Blake Stubblefield Powell,79, entered eternal rest on June 20, 2021. She was born in Shamrock, Texas on April 3, 1942, to Ernest and Achsa Blake. Huberta graduated from Shamrock High School in 1960 and continued her education at West Texas State University where she graduated magna cum laude. Huberta was a beloved master teacher of English Literature for 30+ years in McLean, Shamrock, and Perryton, Texas. She loved to travel and experience new places and adventures, always reading about these places before she arrived. She traveled to Spain, South Africa, South America, Hawaii, and many states living life to the fullest. Huberta loved football especially college games. She also loved watching any sport her children, grandchildren and her great-grandson played.
Huberta was a member of the Jenny June Club and Delta Kappa Gamma. She served on the board for the
Museum of the Plains, Perry Memorial Library, and the First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Williams, and husband Trevor of Amarillo; son, Britt Stubblefield and
wife Janae of Amarillo; grandchildren, Brooks Williams, Ashby Williams, Alexis Duncan and husband Brice, Tres McVean and wife Reed, and Bella McVean; beloved great-grandson, Tash; sisters Gale Wiley and Connie
Strandridge; soul mate, George Wagner.
A memorial service will be held in Perryton at the First United Methodist Church on July 10, 2021 at 11:00.
