Howard Young, age 91 of Hiram, formerly of Powder Springs passed away July 9, 2022.
Howard served in the United States Army during the Korean War and retired from Southland Beverage Company after 25 years.
He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. Howard was a big Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed supporting the team by wearing his Braves baseball hat.
Howard was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Louise Whitley Young and daughter, Patricia Jeanette. He was also preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Danny Watson of Douglasville; grandchildren, Michelle and Blake Jones of Douglasville; Stephanie and Damien Vann of Hiram; Richard Blommel of Tallahassee, FL. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, Watson Jones, Riley Jones, Haleigh Colston, Baileigh Colston, Dylon Vann, Frank Blommel, and Will Blommel; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday 1:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Young and Chaplain Darin Cochran officiating. Interment will follow at Powder Springs Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends for visitation Saturday prior to the service from 12:00-1:00 PM at the funeral home.
For those visiting or attending the funeral, the family asks men to please dress in khakis and a plaid shirt in honor of Howard.
