Howard J. Wilcox Jr. passed away February 18, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was a beloved husband of 59 years to Carol A. McCabe (predeceased).
Howard was a proud father to Lori Wilcox-Greco (Glen),and Elaine Wilcox-Searl. He has four adored grandchildren; Kelly E. Thrasher, Colleen M. Caffrey-Thrasher (Seamus), Mark C. Thrasher, KarElaina Wilcox-Greco,as well as two deeply lovedgreat granddaughters; Ashlyn Kreamer and Isla Caffrey who loving refer to him as "Boppy". Howard enjoyed spending time with his countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Howard served the City of Syracuse for 27 years as a well respected firefighter. He was honored to stand along side his brothers at Engine Company 7. During his career hereceived a Medalof Valor for bravery in the line of duty.
Howard was a proud member of the Adirondack Mountain Club, successfully climbing the 46 peaks, as well as a National Audubon Society member.
Howard retired to Cape Cod Massachusetts where he and his wife enjoyed walking the ocean beaches, whale watching, nightly Jeopardy,cheering on the Boston Red Sox, as well asentertainingfamily and friends with clam bakes.

A memorial will be planned for family and friends over the summer in Cape Cod Massachusetts.
