Hope D. Clark, 79, of Lake Norden passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at Avantara, in Lake Norden. Private family funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 8, 2020 and will be live-streamed through the Geise Funeral Home Facebook page. Geise Funeral Hoem is assisting the family with arrangements.
Hope Diann Andrews was born on January 25, 1941, in Estelline, SD, the youngest of 12 children to Andrew and Dena (Roesen) Andrews. She was born premature and was not expected to survive and was given the name, Hope, by the doctor as he hoped she would survive. Shortly after her birth her father died. She spent the first two years living with her sister. Growing up she attended country school at Cleveland District 4, near Lake Norden. She started working as a waitress at a Caf? in Lake Norden which began a lifelong career waitressing. She worked for Antonen Caf? and later Andrews Caf?. It was at the caf? that she met her husband to be, Larry Clark, and they were married on January 14, 1973. The couple made their home in Lake Norden and where blessed with two children, David and Linda. Hope also spent many summers and weekend singing in playing the family's Country band, The Prairie Partners. In her mid-50s, Hope started having memory problems and was diagnosed with Early Onset Dementia. In 2013, she moved into Homestead Assisted Living and in late 2014 made the nursing home in Lake Norden her new home.
Hope loved Country music, especially Loretta Lynn and Johnny Cash, and was a very accomplished guitar and bass player. She also played the piano. She was a big fan of Lucille Ball, Red Skelton and Carol Burnett, always watching there shows. On Halloween, you could always find Hope dressed in a costume enjoying the festivities. She also had a special place in her heart for animals. Above all else, Hope loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Scott) Currence, of Hayti, SD; daughter-in-law, Kaylene Clark, of Lake Norden, SD; three grandchildren, Jasmine, Lane and Dalton; two brothers, Elwood (Gayle) Andrews, of Lake Norden and James (Marla) Andrews, of Lake Preston, SD; her sister, Jane Espland, of Lake Preston, SD, three sisters-in-law, Janet Andrews, of Lake Norden, SD, Margie Clark, of Castlewood and Jane Mobley, of Elizabethtown, KY; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry; son, David; five brothers, Franklin, Earl, Clarence, Alfred and Roger and three sisters, Irene, Esther and Violet.
