Homer Curtis Montgomery, age 70, of Bloomington and Bedford passed away Friday at the I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospital. Born March 12, 1951 in Bloomington, he was the son of Earl and Eloise (Shafer) Montgomery. Homer served with the Indiana National Guard and retired from General Electric as a quality control coordinator. Homer and his wife, Janet, loved taking vacation trips. The two of them immensely enjoyed their one trip to Israel. He was a member of the W. 11th St. Pentecostal Faith Assembly and the Hoosier Hills Emmaus community.
Homer is survived by his loving wife, Janet (Bland) Montgomery, his step-son, Anthony "Vaughn" (Dawn Nicholson) Bland, of Bloomington, his sister, Delores Jean "Dee" (Dave) Holley, of Unicoi, Tennessee; grandchildren, Logan Bland and Becky Nicholson, step-mother-in-law, June Bland, of Linton, Indiana, step-sister, Dixie Thomas, of Linton, many cousins, one of which is Donna (Byron) Beck, of Bloomington and many nieces and nephews.
Homer was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law, Lester and Alberta (Pearson) Bland and sister-in-law, Brenda Keller.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the W. 11th St. Pentecostal Faith Assembly with Bro. Michael Douglas officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home; 4150 E. Third St. and on Wednesday at the church prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions in Homer's honor may be made to the charity of one's choice.
