Hilda M. Bender, 93, of Mechanicsburg, PA and formerly of Verona, PA and DuBois, PA, passed away peacefully in her daughter's home in Mechanicsburg on June 13, 2022.Born November 7, 1928, in Rockton, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Lillian (Irvin) Thomas of Rockton, PA.On December 22, 1947, in Clearfield, she married Gordon "Jud" Bender of Home Camp. He preceded her in death on August 1, 1975.In 1946, Hilda graduated from the DuBois Area High School. During her life, she worked for a number of years at Community Consumer Discount Loan Company in DuBois as a cashier/bookkeeper. In 1980, she moved to the Pittsburgh area and worked for Arthur Anderson Accounting Firm as an accounting assistant until she retired in June 1995. Hilda loved reading and attending barbershop quartet concerts.Hilda is survived by three daughters, Marcia Bender, Mechanicsburg, Janice (Jerry) Linn, Westminster, MD, and Marilyn (Fred) Delp, Nescopeck, PA, and a sister, Norma Brubaker, DuBois. She leaves behind ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband, Hilda was preceded in death by a son, Preston Leroy Bender, and two sisters, Lorna Marsh and Thelma Bailey.Friends and family will be received Friday, June 17th from 6-8 p.m. from the Adamson Funeral Chapel and Crematorium and Saturday, June 18th from 10-11 a.m. from the Home Camp Methodist Church. Following Saturday's visitation, a funeral service will be held at the church at 11 a.m. with Rev. Nancy Shute officiating.
