Hetty M. Corrigan, 90, of Manchester, MD passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021 at SpiriTrust Lutheran in Shrewsbury, PA. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph Corrigan.
Born in Baltimore, she was a daughter of the late Harry M. and H. Marguerite (Byrd) Benzinger. Hetty was a navy wife, police officer's wife, loving mother and registered nurse who retired as Director of Nursing from the House of Pines in Easton, MD. She was an avid lover of travel, cruising and visiting foreign countries. Hetty was a former member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Easton, MD where she was a Eucharistic minister, member of the St. Anne & Joachim Society, association member of the Sisters of Charity and a rosary maker by the thousands. She volunteered for the American Cancer Society Reach for Recovery which was dear to her being a breast cancer survivor. She also volunteered with the Hospice House Foundation and was an Oblate of St. Benedict. Hetty enjoyed crafting, crocheting and gardening and will always be remembered as a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and friend.
She is survived by three children Michael Corrigan and wife Karen, Theresa, wife of Mike Altschuler and Timothy Corrigan and wife Terry; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. Hetty was preceded in death by a daughter Mary Catherine Ford and a brother Harry M. Benzinger, Jr. and a sister Katherine Gleason.
Graveside services will be held Monday, April 5, 2021 at 12PM from Woodlawn Memorial Park, 11365 Ocean Gateway, Easton, MD 21601. Masks and social distancing are required for those in attendance.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to SpiriTrust Lutheran, Shrewsbury, 200 Luther Road, Shrewsbury, PA 17361 in her memory.
