Herman G. Brandenburg, age 92, passed away at Agrace on April 3, 2021. He was born to Mabel and Otto in Castle Rock, WI. He worked hard on the family farm and also did contracting work. Taking his skills to Madison, he became a master carpenter and home builder, including his family home. He was married to Louise for 59 years and was blessed with three children, three grandchildren, a son-in-law and daughter-in-law. Friends were as important as family. His kindness, compassion, and ability to form deep relationships were felt by most of the people he knew. His fondest memories were trips with his wife to visit friends and family in the US, the UK, and Africa. In retirement, he spent over 20 years building for Habitat for Humanity. Through various missions he also volunteered his talents in Zambia, Madagascar, Cuba, and Jamaica. He often said, "Isn't that something?!" which could be said about all his accomplishments. Herman is survived by his children, Kathleen, Kris Johnson (Don), and Mark (Sue); grandchildren, Nina, Nathan, and Nick; many cousins and good friends. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents. The family would like to thank Agrace for the home care provided over the past year. Memorials may be made to Agrace, Wisconsin Medical Project, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, or Habitat for Humanity. For service details and online condolences visit cremationsocietyofmadison.com
