Herman James "Jim" Allred, Sr., age 80, of Rome passed away Wednesday March 30, 2022.
Jim was born on December 6, 1941 in Cartersville GA., to the late Franklin Elias Allred and Pauline Kown Allred. Jim was a 1959 graduate of The Berry Boys Academy. He attended Berry College, Georgia State University, and Southern Poly Tech. He was employed by Rich's Department Store for many years, followed by Fisher Price Toys. Later in life he worked for LW Bell and Sons Tools and Fasteners. After retirement Jim was employed at Floyd County Sheriffs Department. He loved spending time with his family in any way he could. Jim and his family loved gardening, sightseeing, his birds, and the wildlife club. Jim was the honorary "Mayor" of the West Rome Waffle House. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years: Shirley Bell Allred; his parents; siblings: Robert Allred, Charles Allred, Myrna Allred Lewis.
Survivors include his children: Jimmy (Sherry) Allred, Kim (Jeff) Richardson, and Sherri (Mark) Munns; grandchildren: Josh Richardson, Jake Richardson, Abby Cummings, Kelsey Allred, Kylee Allred, Sawyer Munns, and Morgan Munns; sister: Janice Allred Roberts; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday April 4, 2022 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, with Rev. David Thornton officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with masonic graveside rites conducted by Oostanaula Lodge #113. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until service hour on Monday at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome GA. 30165.
Pallbearers include the following gentlemen: Jake Richardson, Josh Richardson, Sawyer Munns, James Womack, W. Jake Richardson and Robbie Roberts. Honorary pallbearers are The Floyd County Sheriffs Office.
