Herbert C. Davis , 90 Aug 18, 1929 - Mar 9, 2020 Herbert Covington Davis (Age 90), beloved husband of the late Okie G. Davis, formally of Silver Spring then Hagerstown Maryland, died Monday March 9, 2020 at the Veterans Administration hospital in Martinsburg, WV. Herbert was born in Galax Virginia to Virginia Poe Davis and Stephen Glenn Davis on August 18, 1929. He married Okie Bonham on April 16, 1960 in Independence, VA. He worked as an auto technician in Dodge Dealerships for over 30 years and served in the U.S. Navy for over 9 years where he earned an honorable discharge in 1957. After retirement from Wheaton Dodge in 1992, he enjoyed
garage projects, woodworking and
volunteering as a driver at local hospitals. Along with his wife and parents, Herbert is preceded in death by his sisters; Alpha May (Bevie) Davis Wright Banks and Delores Davis Mickey brothers; Roscoe G. Davis, Samuel L. (Dan) Davis, Ned Davis and Lenwood Davis. Herbert is survived by sons Barry Wade (Deborah) Davis of Hagerstown and Alan Herbert (Crystal) Davis of Davidsonville, MD; Sister Rita Davis Lloyd of Trinity NC; sister in law, Shelia Davis of Riverhead NY Grandchildren Kyle Davis, Austin Davis and Kelsey Davis; Great Grandchildren Logan, Lennox, Lillian and Cash. The family of Herbert Davis wish to extend our sincere thanks to the entire staff at the Martinsburg VA Community Living Center. These exceptional people made Dads final years, months and moments comforting to for us all. Family will receive friend on Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 11am at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Hwy. (Rt. 3 South), Bowie, MD where a funeral service will be held at 12pm officiated by Rev. James Painter. Interment George Washington Cemetery, Adelphi, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Herbert's name to Martinsburg VA MC Volunteer Services, 510 Butler Ave. Martinsburg, WV 25405.
