Henry Parker of Oxford, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2019, at the age of 93. Mr. Parker was a faithful member of Canaan Baptist Church. He retired after 44 years of dedicated service at Bibb Manufacturing. Mr. Parker had an independent and strong-willed demeanor which enabled him to overcome a physical handicap - never letting it slow him down or hinder him in any way. He enjoyed eating catfish at Hendersons, being outdoors, fishing and hunting. He was a very loving husband and a father to his nieces and nephews. Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Edith Parker; parents, Robert and Nora Jane (Lloyd) Parker; sisters and brothers-in-law, Maggie Lou and Claude Smith, Sara Parker and Acie Wilder.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Martha McGiboney; as well as nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Parker was held Monday, June 24, 2019, 2:00 P.M., at Canaan Baptist Church, 5581 Salem Road, in Covington, with Pastor Billy Ingram officiating and interment followed in Lawnwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canaan Baptist Church Missions Fund.
