Henry Francis Beatty, 90, of Sweetwater, TN passed away on October 21, 2022. Henry was born in New York (Manhattan) on 02 April 1932 to the late Mary Guccioni Beatty and Henry Elder Beatty.
Henry grew up in Charlotte, NC in the historic Dilworth neighborhood. He graduated from the old Charlotte Central High School, class of 1950, attended Charlotte College (now UNC-Charlotte) where he played basketball, and earned a BS in Textiles from NC State University, where he was also a member of the tennis team.
He was a devoted husband, friend, and father to three sons and a daughter.
His career for many years was Operations Management at PPG Industries and later for Seal Wire Co., both in Shelby NC. Henry relocated to Sweetwater TN in 2001 and soon after married his new love, Carolyn.
Henry served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was the last person to be drafted in Mecklenburg County (Charlotte) for that event.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his younger sister, Mary Elizabeth Booker; and youngest son, Patrick (Paddy) James Beatty.
Henry is survived by his wife Carolyn Blair Beatty (Sweetwater TN); brother James Tully Beatty (Paulette, Charlotte NC); three of his four children, Michael G. Beatty (Lake Lure NC); Henry F. (Frank) Beatty Jr. (Ruth, Charlotte NC); Katherine T. Beatty (Bluffton SC); two grandsons (Tyler & Connor Beatty of Charlotte NC & Clearwater FL), two granddaughters (Caroline Scout Beatty-Low of Allen TX & Maggie B. Engel of St. Clair MO), two great granddaughters (Elliana Dingledine & Abigale Engel of St. Clair MO); step-children, Sherri Nakamoto (Maryville TN) and Jason Nittolo (Tineall).
Aside from spending time with his family, the times he valued most were spent on the tennis court with his buddies. He was a cherished friend to many and is remembered as a kind soul who would strike up a conversation with anyone he met.
The family will receive visitors on Saturday, November 5th from 1:00p-3:00p at Kyker Funeral Home in Sweetwater TN.
