Helen Alice Trimble Sutherland passed away on Nov. 27, 2022, at the age of 89. Helen is survived by her husband Virgil Sutherland Jr. of Llano, Texas, her son Mark Virgil Sutherland and wife Vicky Sutherland of Brownwood, Texas, daughter Sherry Sutherland Scudder and husband Bill Scudder of Fredericksburg, Texas, grandchildren Andrew Sutherland, Samantha Sutherland Hampton and her husband Kyle, Will Scudder and Alex Scudder, great grandchildren Agnes Hampton and Phinehas Hampton. Helen was preceded in death by her parents Ralph Edwin Trimble and Gertrude Nussbeck Trimble, her brother, Ralphie Trimble of Topeka, Kansas, and her sister, Carole Samuelson of Englewood, Colorado. Helen is also survived by the many Brother-in-laws, Sister-in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and outlaws of the Sutherland Clan that she loved so much.
Helen was born in Topeka, Kansas on Dec. 22, 1932, and moved to Austin in her mid-20's where she met Virgil Sutherland Jr. Helen and Virgil had twins in 1961 and raised their family north of Houston. Helen worked many years for her respected boss, Mr. Crocket as a secretary and advanced to become a stockbroker in an era when few women were stockbrokers. After many years in Houston, Helen and Virgil moved to the Texas Hill Country living in Marble Falls and Llano, Texas. In her later years Helen enjoyed gardening, woodworking, ranching and most of all events with family and extended family. Helen passed away peacefully in the presence of family. Thanks and appreciation to Celeste Care and Ave Maria Hospice of Fredericksburg for their support, attention and kindness to Helen.
Services will be held at Grace Episcopal Church located at 1200 Oatman St., Llano, Texas at 10AM on Dec. 10, 2022. Graveside committal will be held in Montell, Texas at 1PM on Dec. 19, 2022 at Episcopal Church of the Ascension. Donations should be directed to Grace Episcopal Church, Episcopal Church of the Ascension, Montell or the Christian Charity of your choice.
