Helen Marie (Zeno) Sokolosky, 84, of West Yarmouth and formerly of Turners Falls, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021, from complications of Parkinson's disease.
Helen was born January 4, 1937 in Bellows Falls, Vermont to Bernard E. and Everald (Pearce). She graduated from Bellows Falls High School in 1955 and received her R.N. degree from the Franklin County Public Hospital, School of Nursing, in 1959. Helen served as a nurse at the Franklin County Public Hospital and Farren Memorial Hospital. She was the former owner of Uniforms Unlimited in Greenfield.
Helen was an avid gardener and doting mother and grandmother who faced her daily physical challenges with grace and a quick wit. Her strength in the face of adversity was an inspiration to her family and friends.
Helen married Frank Michael Sokolosky on September 1, 1962 in Bellows Falls, VT. Helen is lovingly remembered by her three children: Karin Gravina and her husband Carl, of Walpole, NH; Jennifer Sokolosky Smith and her husband Billy, of Eldersburg, MD, and Nancy Horwood and her husband Ron, of Sandwich, MA. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Ryan, Mark, Caroline, Crystal, Delaney, Nolan, and Brennan. Additionally, she leaves her sisters: Dorothy Cross of Winooski, VT and Judith Patterson of Nashua, NH and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Paul Zeno and sister Shirley Zeno.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial in celebration of Helen's life, will be observed on Friday, February 26, 2021 at 10:00AM, at Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh Street, Turners Falls, MA with Rev. Fr. Stanley J. Aksamit, Pastor, as the Celebrant. Rites of committal and interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Turners Falls, MA. Visiting hours have been omitted. Due to COVID19 considerations, for those attending social distancing and the wearing of masks is required.
