Helen Delois McJimsey Strickland passed away at her home on July 3, 2021 at the age of 83 years and 7 months.
She was born December 19, 1937, along with her twin brother, Harvey D. McJimsey, in Plainview, Texas. She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Albert McJimsey; mother, Stella Mae Noblett McJimsey; brothers, Monroe Franklin and Harvey D. McJimsey; half-brother, Irving McJimsey; half-sister, Elbia Mize; and great grandson, Beckham J. Bourgeois.
After spending her formative years in Silverton, Texas where she developed a special kind of toughness and work ethic, Helen had a 43-year career with the Farm Services Agency before transitioning to a 14-year career at a local accounting firm.
Helen was a devout Christian who dedicated her life to church, family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Bryan Edward Strickland and daughter-in-law Joanne Strickland of Escondido, CA; daughters, Jana Strickland Kohler and son-in-law David A. Kohler of Killeen, Texas and Jamie Smith of Hutto, Texas; grandchildren, Bryanne Strickland, Mallory Bourgeois, Thomas Lussenden, Jon-Paul Bernard, Shawn Curby, Shannon Curby, Shara Curby, Geoffrey Kohler, Jessica Reynolds, Ben Kohler-Crowe, Damian Smith and Amanda Smith Rivers; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and 5 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home in the Abbey Chapel at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 10, 2021.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Helen's memory to Hospice of Lubbock, Lubbock Meals-On-Wheels, South Plains Food Bank or your favorite charity.
