Helen Leutink, 93, of Spring Valley, MN, died on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at Mayo Clinic Hospital - St Marys Campus Rochester, MN.
Helen Maxine House was born January 24, 1926, daughter of Alva and Eunice (Wyman) House in Mantorville, MN. While working for Rochester Dairy in the lab, she met her future husband, Leonard Leutink, who was a mechanic for Rochester Dairy. On August 22, 1945, the couple married. To this union 4 children were born Leonard Jr., Janet, Larry, and JoAnn. Helen's pride and joy was her grandchildren. She loved babysitting them and had the magic touch when it came to putting them to sleep. Helen liked to watch and feed the birds. She was very knowledgeable on all their names. Helen enjoyed keeping her hands busy sewing and embroidering. She embroidered all the state flowers on 2 quilts, dish towels, and table cloths. Helen also made pillows for the chiropractor. She enjoyed being a part of the Cherry Grove UMC ladies aid. Helen liked working the different events with them, and especially liked when they would visit her at the nursing home. Helen liked to travel, fishing trips up North, and playing cards with her family. During her life she also worked as an Avon Lady and was a nurses aid at the Spring Valley Hospital.
Helen is survived by her 4 children Leonard Leutink Jr. of Spring Valley, MN, Janet (Allen) Bly of Sandy, Oregon, Larry (Dorinda) Leutink of Hayfield, MN, JoAnn (Gary) Hamlin of Rochester, MN; 7 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and 2 brothers Lyle House of Chatfield, MN and Marvin House of Stewartville, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leonard Sr. in 2013, granddaughter Lynnette Leutink-Blanco, 2 sisters, 2 brothers, 2 brothers-in-law, and 4 sisters-in-law.
Funeral Services for Helen will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at Cherry Grove United Methodist Church in Cherry Grove, MN, with Pastor Deanna Woodward officiating. Burial will be held in Greenleafton Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17, at Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley, MN, and will continue for one hour at the church prior to the service on Wednesday.
