Helen Elizabeth Laskowski Becker, age 89, earned her wings on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 in New Braunfels, Texas after a short battle with cancer. She was born on January 23, 1933 in Stockdale, Texas to Claude Weldon Hall and Robbie Lee Hyatt Hall.
She married Stanley Lambert Laskowski Sr. on January 10, 1951 in Stockdale, Texas at St. Ann's Catholic Church. Their marriage was blessed with two sons.
In December 1960, Helen and Stanley started a new adventure in life and moved to Alice, Texas where they purchased K.C. Salley Van and Storage Company. Helen served as the Office Manager for the business until she retired in 1994.
Helen was a member of the First Baptist Church in Alice, Texas. She was always willing to serve her church on numerous committees throughout her time there. Helen was involved in the Jim Wells County Fair and took a special interest in the Queen's Contest and also entered her crocheted afghans in the fair and won many awards.
She enjoyed painting, crocheting, and knitting. She loved traveling and baking. She was famous for her Pecan Pie. When she moved to New Braunfels in 2013, she became the puzzle master and bingo champion of Eden Hill.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Stanley Laskowski Sr., Robert Becker and John Brewer; son, Joseph Allen Laskowski; brothers, Claude Pope, Bobbie Joe Pope, Beryl Lee Pope and Berry Lee "Buddy" Pope; sisters, Jo Ann Pope and Lillian Zimmerman.
She is survived by her son, Stanley (Susan) Laskowski, Jr. of New Braunfels; daughter-in-law, Patricia Laskowski of Garland; brother, Jack McCoy (Gloria) Pope of Georgetown; granddaughters, Leah (Cameron) Zablocky of New Braunfels, Michelle (Jose) Arce of Dallas and Tiffany Laskowski of Dallas; great-grandchildren, Haiden Prescott Zablocky and Kailyn Juliette Zablocky of New Braunfels, and Andrew Joseph Arce and Abigail May Arce of Dallas.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kyle Green, Dallas Green, Carey Zimmerman, Jack Douglas Pope, Barry Moy, Dennis Brysch, Cameron Zablocky and Johnny Gustafson. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be great-grandsons, Andrew Arce and Haiden Zablocky.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the entire staff of Eden Hill Community in New Braunfels, Texas.
Family receiving friends from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Monday, June 27, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Alice, Texas. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 27, 2022 at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Alice Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Alice, Texas or Harmony Baptist Church of Harmony, Texas
