Helen (Szczapa) Kaszycki Jakielo, 95, of Meriden, loving wife of the late Henry J. Jakielo, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden. Helen was born in Ansonia, April 8, 1926, the adopted daughter of the late Walter and Regina Kaszycki and had been a lifelong Meriden resident. She attended local schools and was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Parish. Helen was a daily communicant of St. Stanislaus Church, a member of the Sunshine Club, Rosary Society, Sacred Heart of Mary, and past President of P.L.A.V. She loved music, swimming, dancing and enjoyed taking trips and traveling with her husband and children to the beach, and the mountains. In her spare time, Helen loved crocheting and knitting. She is survived by her four loving children, Paul Jakielo of Meriden, Tom Jakielo of Middletown, Mary Jakielo of Coventry and Barbara Germaine and her husband Richard of Newington; three grandchildren Richard Germaine, Gary Germaine, Kelly Mota and husband John; 4 great grandchildren Madeline and Preston Mota, Richard and Adeline Germaine; several nieces; and nephews. She was predeceased by five brothers, Stanley, John, twins Joseph and Benjamin, and Edward Szczapa.
Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Meriden Memorial Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Monday, June 28, 2021, from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., when the funeral procession will proceed to St. Faustina Parish, (St. Stanislaus Church) where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
