Susy B. Entenman, (nee Helen Salt Brown), died peacefully of natural causes on July 4th, 2021, in
Naples, Florida, six days shy of her 92nd birthday. "Susy" was born on July 10, 1929, in Trenton, NJ to Clinton Willi Brown and Helen Rae Salt Brown, the youngest of three children and only daughter.
The family moved to Niagara Falls, NY, where her father founded National Manufacturing Corp. of Tonawanda. She grew up in Niagara Falls and Lewiston and summered in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. She graduated from the National Cathedral School in Washington, DC in 1947, made her debut in Niagara Falls and earned a bachelor's degree from Cornell University in 1951, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and the third generation and first female of the Brown family to graduate from Cornell. In the summer of 1952, she embarked from New York City on the Neptunia for a three-month tour of Europe.
Transferred with her husband to Ohio, Susy raised their three children in Dayton and Hudson, returning annually to spend summers and holidays in her beloved Niagara. Susy was active in many pursuits in addition to being a homemaker, including owning The Market Place gift shop, writing columns for the local weekly newspaper, The Hudson Hub, and selling real estate. Her true gift was as an artist. She was a very talented watercolor painter, and her paintings were featured in many local and regional art shows.
She moved to Florida after the marriage ended, dedicating herself to creating a definitive genealogy of her maternal and paternal ancestors, becoming a student of American history. She enjoyed traveling with friends in the US and abroad and was active in the Naples Cornell Alumni Association.
She was pre-deceased by her son, Robert John Entenman Jr., brother Maury Rae Brown and sister-in-law Jane Egbert Brown. She is survived by her older brother, Clinton "Bus" Salt Brown of Maryland, sister-in-law Frances Brown of Connecticut, daughter Helen "Holly" Salt Entenman Kennedy (Hal Kennedy) of Greenwich, CT, son Alfred "Fred" M. Entenman III, of Chicago, daughter-in-law Athina Kyrikidou Entenman of London, England and nine grandchildren; John H. Kennedy (Amanda Moreland), Sarah Kennedy, Helen "Anne" Kennedy, Jillian Brown Entenman (finance Joe Yuan), Carey Entenman, William Entenman, Colleen M. Entenman, Alexander Entenman and Chloe Entenman, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
A memorial service is being scheduled for a future date, with interment in the Salt Family plot at Oakwood Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
