Hector Gandaria, 64, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 13, 2021. He was born on January 21, 1957 in Mission, Texas. He lived in the Mission area most of his life and was a graduate of La Joya High School. Hector was an avid sports fan, and took pride in sports accomplishments, especially being all state wide receiver 1974-75. He retired from Texas Gas Service after many years of service. He spent his retirement years keeping up with his grandsons, hunting and fishing.
Hector was preceded in death by his father Rodolfo Gandaria.
Hector is survived by his mother Sara Emma Gandaria; his beloved wife Martha Gandaria; loving children Melissa Ann (Coby) Bass, Monica Yvette (Juan Carlos) Abrego, and Hector Gandaria Jr. He is also survived by his adoring grandchildren Gunnar William and Colton Thomas Bass; Derek Jay and Johnny Blaze Abrego; and Michael Rene Gandaria. As well as by his brothers Rodolfo Jr. (Nelda) Gandaria, Edelmiro (Janie) Gandaria; sisters Hilda Gandaria and Nelda (Tony) Reyes.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 17, 2021, from 3-9pm with a 7pm rosary at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in McAllen. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at 2pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Cremation will follow.
Services are under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in McAllen.
