Hazel Grabel, 89, passed away on January 1, 2021. She was born on April 28, 1931 in Akron, Ohio. She grew up in North Hill and graduated from North High School in 1949. Hazel was a bank teller at Charter One in Akron where she retired in 1996. In her younger days, Hazel loved to play the piano. Once retired, she loved to go to lunch with her friends, read books, and watch the Cleveland Indians every chance she could. She was quick-witted, had a wild sense of humor, a playful personality, and could dish it as well as she could take it. Hazel is preceded in death by her parents Arra and Malcom Arrington and brothers: Eugene, Jack, and Bob. She is survived by her children Linda Smith, Pam Strahlem, Rhonda Guthrie, and Tom (Judy) Grabel, her sister-in-law Jeanette Arrington of SC, nieces, nephews, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She will be sorely missed. A private burial for family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you call and visit your elderly loved ones, especially those in nursing homes, as often as you can.
