Hazel Cleghorn Bell passed away May 5 at 2023 at the age of 96 at Cypress Pond Assisted Living Facility.
Hazel was born in Sycamore, GA on May 18,1926 to Rufus Collie and Flossie Mae Cleghorn.She spent her entire life in Turner County. She was married to S.W. Bell, Jr. and was a farm wife and partner to him for over 51 years where they had a successful farming operation.She loved cooking, visiting with her family, gardening, and often hosted big family gatherings at her country home around holidays and special events. She was an excellent cook and seamstress. She enjoyed many years of her life in Bellundefineds Daylily Garden which she loved. She was a life long member of Bethel Baptist church.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents and five siblings, Melvin Cleghorn, Milton Cleghorn, Bertie Kendrick, Mae Bellflower, and Mildred Bullington; one great-grandson, Ethan James Crawford.
She is survived by her children, Wayne and Kathryn Bell of Valdosta, Tim and Linda Bell of Sycamore, Tony and Gina Bell of Coral Springs, FL, Cheryl and Scott Wynn of Sycamore, GA, and Susan and Mike Floyd of Watkinsville; thirteen grandchildren, Andrea Bell, Emily Bell, Sarah and Chris Crawford, Jessica Bell, Rachel and Mikell Gibbs, Jared Bell, Samuel Bell, Daniel Bell, Abbie Bell, Anthony Bell, Rebecca (Alex) Sconyers, Dr. Andrew and Natalie Floyd and Stephen and Holly Floyd; sister-in-law Louise Cleghorn. She is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren and a large number of nieces and nephews from the Bell and Cleghorn families which she dearly loved.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Perry Funeral Chapel. Interment will be private.
