Harvey William Kirk, resident of Pasadena, Texas, reached his Heavenly home on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at the age of 94.
Harvey was born in Mankins, Texas on January 15, 1927 to Hessel and Flora Kirk. He met his life-long sweetheart, Nila Kirk, at a roller-skating rink and they were married in Gainesville, Texas on October 29, 1947. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Harvey loved the outdoors and could always be found doing anything outside from fishing, tending to his garden, riding around in the golf cart, or working on cars. He also enjoyed traveling with his family and playing, coaching, and watching baseball. He was known for his incredible work ethic, kind heart, and the "gift of gab." Harvey never met a stranger, and his friendly personality and motivation to succeed made him a perfect fit for leadership positions during his long career. Harvey served in the United State Air Force for 7 years, building and fixing jet engines on newly developed planes. He then went on to become an equipment operator at Phillips 66, and retired as the fleet supervisor after 36 years of loyal service. Even after retirement, Harvey continued to work hard building his businesses, Kirk Automotive and Kirk Shop Rentals. He also served as an active board member of Phillips Credit Union and was the President of the Philresters, Phillips Conoco retirees. His love and duty to his family and community was the most important thing to Harvey, and his legacy will live on for many years to come.
Harvey is survived by his sister-in-law, Dorothy Arington of Amarillo, Texas; his children, Roger Kirk and his girlfriend Marsha, Cynthia and her husband Don Turner; his grandchildren, Josh Kirk, Katina Morris, and Bryan Peck; his great-grandchildren, Vivian Kirk, Andrew Kirk, and Zachary Morris; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Nila Kirk; his parents Hessel and Flora Kirk; his four sisters Vivian Burton, Betty Joe Baird, Nelda Goff, and Martha Klaren; his brother Frank L. Kirk
The family will receive visitors from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday, April 21st at Grand View Funeral Home located at 8501 Spencer Hwy. in Pasadena, Texas 77503. A Celebration of Life will be held at` 10am on April 22, 2021 at Gateway Community Church located at 760 Clear Lake City Blvd. in Webster, Texas 77598. Interment graveside service will follow at Grand View Memorial Park.
