Harry Tracy Jones, Jr., 96 of Kirbyville, died Sunday, February 14, 2021 Jasper, Texas following a brief illness. "Red", as he was affectionately known by family and friends, was born November 15, 1925 in Bleakwood, Texas. He is survived by wife of 53 years, Wilma "Jean" Jones of Kirbyville, Texas; son, Mike Jones (Sharon) of Buffalo, Texas; daughters, Sharon Stover of Round Rock, Texas, Donna Holmes of Sam Marcos, Texas, Nell Huff (Mark) of Beaumont, Texas, Barbara Bean of San Antonio, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Tracey Jones, Sr., and Ida Dougharty Jones; brothers, Fred Harvey Jones, Curtis Ray Jones, Sr., Travis Henry Jones, J.C. Jones, and Carl Millard ""Pete" Jones; sisters, Etta Lea Jones Hall and Ada Jones Smith. He was a member of Trout Creek Baptist Church.
Red graduated from Newton High School in 1944.After graduation, he proudly served his country in the US Navy during World War II. After completing his military service, he worked in the logging business. In later years he was employed as a welder in shipyards in Orange and Beaumont, retiring as a pipefitter from Pipefitters Local 195. He enjoyed the outdoors and could often be found tending his garden or riding his tractor. Each November would find him spending time at his deer camp in the beloved East Texas Piney Woods of his youth. Above all, Red loved his family.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Bertron Brown and his nurse Martha Selensky, Dr. Jann Nunez-Gussman, Dr. Mark Fasulo, and Sheila DeVaugh for their many years of compassionate care and kindness.
The family will receive friends at Trout Creek Baptist Church on February 26, 2021, at 10 in the morning for visitation. Funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00.
