Harold I. Stark, 99, of Indianapolis, died Dec. 24, 2021.
He worked as a Quality Control Foreman at the Allison Corporation, retiring in 1980. While at Allison's, he worked on the rocket engines for the Apollo "moon shot". He lived a very full life, as he built and raced 3/4 migit cars from 1952-61 and was a former member of the Midwest Racing Association. Harold also built his own steam engine.
Since 1984, he volunteered for the Indiana Locomotive Transportation Museum; the Rolls Royce Museum. He was well known for working at the Indiana State Fair Pioneer Village for 40 years; he was an instructor at the Steam School in Pawnee, OK, as well as a member of the Pioneer Engineers Association of Indiana.
Survivors include a daughter, Jane Pavey, of Rushville and a son, Edward (Sharon) Stark, of Indianapolis. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Ruby; wife Joan; son Joe, great grandson Clayton Meyers V; and three sisters, Roberta, Annabelle, and Charlotte.
Public Visitation will be held 5 PM to 7 PM on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021 at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory in Rushville, IN. Funeral Services will be private for family with Gary Holt from Arlington Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Goddard Cemetery in Rush County.
