Harold Edwin Spencer, 85, of Davidson, NC passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on Saturday, May 6, 2023. He was born on July 25, 1937, in Twining, MI, to the late Guy and Pearl Mosher Spencer. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his 3 brothers, Guy, Donald, and Gerald Spencer; and his 1 sister, Patricia James. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Patricia Conklin Spencer; his 3 children who adored him, Lori Spencer (Robert) of Philadelphia, PA, Jeff Spencer (Gretchen) of Austin, TX, and Wendy Spencer (Stephen) of Mooresville, NC; his devoted grandson, Jacob Spencer (Thomas) of Kington, NY; and his 2 sisters-in-law, Karen Hite (Kenneth) and Linda Conklin, both of MI and his beloved canine companion, Chaco.
Harold was raised in East Tawas, MI, with Lake Huron as his playground. He graduated from the University of Michigan where he received his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. He was employed by IBM for 30 years. Beginning in 1962, with his employment at IBM, Harold and his family moved to Kingston, NY, where they lived for over 50 years. In 2015, he and his wife moved to Mooresville, NC and more recently resided in Davidson, NC.
Harold was a loving and dedicated husband and father who was always fully engaged with his family. He enjoyed working on the restoration of Historical Estates in the Hudson Valley area of NY. His interests also included woodworking, gardening, and photography. He loved the outdoors, hiking, birdwatching, and traveling the world. He was a jack of all trades, master of everything he did. He was loved dearly by everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed.
The family will hold a memorial service in the chapel at Williams Place in Davidson, NC on May 24, 2023 at 3:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
