Funeral services for Harold Jacob Salley, 89, of Salley, SC will be held at three o'clock p.m., Sunday, October 20, 2019 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with Eastern Star Rites accorded; Reverend Henry Cooper, Reverend Dewitt Livingston and Larry Salley will be officiating; burial will be in the Springfield Cemetery with Masonic Rites accorded. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday. Mr. Harold passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2019.
Born in Springfield, SC, he was the son of the late Charles Eugene Salley, Sr. and Hanson Curtis Fanning Salley and was the widower of Dorothy Eubanks "Dot" Salley. He was a member of the Springfield United Methodist Church and was active with Hodges Methodist Church where he was involved with several Youth Groups. He was a charter member and Past Patron of Hodges Eastern Star # 272 for 54 years. He became a Master Mason on November 10, 1962 of Bascomb Masonic Lodge # 363, where he was a member for 56 years and served as a Past Worshipful Master. He was a member of the Ackerman Chapter Order of the Eastern Star # 198 and was Past Grand Patron at the Order of the Eastern Star for the State of S.C. He was a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans, served as magistrate in Greenwood County and owned/operated Harold Salley's Gunsmith Shop. He retired from SRS as a construction contractor, he also worked for Southern Railroad and was a Depot Agent for Hodges and Donalds Southern Railroad Depots.
Survivor include his daughter Beth S. Traynham of Salley; grandchildren Jacob W. (Ashley) Traynham of Greenwood, SC, Jennifer D. Traynham (Jeremiah Engblom) of Springfield, SC, James S. (Renee) Traynham of Greenwood, SC; great grandchildren Walker Traynham, Blake Traynham and Roeyn Strange and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother Charles E. Salley, Jr.
