Mr. Harold Jennings Price, age 92, was born September 30, 1929 to the late C.P. and Faye Flake Price of Sevierville, TN, passed away April 4, 2022 at his sons Chattanooga home surrounded by family. A long time teacher and educator in Dalton and Whitfield County Schools. Price taught at Polk County High School, Eastside and Crown Elementary, served as a history and science teacher as well as guidance counselor at Fort Hill Jr. High School. After several years with the Georgia State Department of Education, Mr. Price returned to Whitfield County in 1973 as the Principle of Antioch Elementary School. He held degrees from East Tennessee State University (B.S.), a Masters in education from Vanderbilt University (M.S.) and a degree in early childhood from Georgia State University, and was instrumental in building the foundation of the kindergarten programs across the state of Georgia. A Marine veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a twin engine, instrument rated private pilot and earned a Taekwondo black belt at the age of 45. He is survived by wife of 71 tears, Mary O"Leta Price of Chattanooga, TN; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Earline of Rogersville, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Renee Price of Chattanooga, TN; granddaughter, Mary Catherine Price of Woodstock, GA; step grandchildren, Jake Espinosa, Emily Espinosa of Chattanooga, TN, several nieces and nephews.
Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Harold Jennings Price will be held Saturday April 9, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Dr. Danny Cochran officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Interment will follow in the Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens with American Legion Post 112 in charge of Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers please consider donations in his memory to the U.S. Marine Corp Toys for Tots or The St. Joseph's Indian School. Semper Fi.
