Harold F. Kenney of Boscawen, NH and later Webster, NH passed away at age 91 on June 10, 2021, at Concord Hospital. Harold was born in Concord, NH the third son of Francis S. and Florence B. (Langille) Kenney of Boscawen. He graduated from Penacook High School in 1948.
Harold wore many hats over the years. In his early years he worked on local farms. He and his brothers built Kenney's Garage in Boscawen, NH. He was an aircraft mechanic for Douglas Aircraft in California and General Motors Executive Air Transport in Detroit, MI and returned to Boscawen, New Hampshire in 1957. Harold began and operated Kenney's Fuel Service providing fuel oil and propane for nearly 50 years to local customers. He ran a sand and gravel pit running crushers and used his equipment to build driveways and put in septic systems. Over the years he built and/or repaired 30 houses including the family cottage on Lake Winnipesaukee.
Harold especially loved to hunt and fish, including 30 years of fishing trips to Quebec and Maine and over 70 years of hunting trips all over New England and Canada with great friends and family resulting in many trophies. Harold and his wife Henrietta did a great deal of traveling all across the United States, making life-long friends wherever they went.
He was a volunteer for the Boscawen Fire Department. In fact, he and Charlie Fontaine designed the current Boscawen fire house. He served on the Boscawen Planning Board from 1966-68. He was a charter member of the Boscawen Historical Society and early building trustee. He was a member of the New Hampshire Farm Bureau.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Henrietta (Phelps), his son Peter, and wife Brenda of Pittsburg; son Timothy, and wife Kim of Boscawen; daughter Amy Jenks and partner Thomas Garceau of Chichester. Six grandchildren: Samantha Kenney and partner Jesse Riel of Loudon; Jaimee Cloud and husband Nevin of Lyme; Justin Kenney and partner Stephanie Stone of Knoxville, TN; Zachary Kenney and wife Rachel of Canaan, VT; Meghan Jenks and partner Erik Gustafson of Manchester; and Raymond Jenks of Medford, MA. As well as, three great-grandchildren: Sawyer Maltais, Emily Cloud and Lila Kenney.
Harold is survived by his sister Carol Young of Holiday, FL and Sarah (Sally) Connor of Canaan, VT as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents, brother Edward and wife Vivian of Warren, MI; brother Philip and sister Barbara Young of Boscawen and three nephews.
There will not be calling hours. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 11:00AM at Corser Hill Cemetery, Allen Road, Webster, NH. Reverend David Richardson will officiate. Chadwick Funeral Home in New London will be handling the funeral arrangements. There will be a celebration of Life following the graveside services at the Boscawen Fire House, 17 High Street, Boscawen, NH. Donations can be made to the charity of one's choice.
