He graduated from Roxana High School in 1952 and went on to work as a pipe fitter for Shell Oil Co. In 1957, he moved his "growing family" to the Merritt Island, FL area, where he learned the plumbing trade. Owner of Quality Plumbing & Heating in Merritt Island, FL for over 30 years, he operated a very successful company and was well-respected for his knowledge of the trade. An avid sports fan of ALL sports, he played basketball at Roxana High School and softball on the Merritt Island men's league at Kiwanis Island. He also remained a huge fan of the Merritt Island High School Mustangs, where his 3 children attended, rarely missing a Friday night game & even flying his small plane to the away games for many years. He spent his last years watching his great-grandchildren playing a variety of sports, which brought him great joy! In the early days, he was famous for his fresh "shrimp & fish fries" & backyard hand-churned homemade ice cream when family & friends visited. In retirement, he developed quite a reputation for his delicious homemade pies and there was always a line at the stove for his homemade chicken and dumplings. Harold was loved by all who knew him.
