Harold Robert Alderman (Hal), age 100, of Leesburg, Florida, passed away on March 28, 2021. Born in New Haven, CT to Joseph and Sarah (Weinstein) Alderman and Step-son to Mary Sonia Alderman. Harold is survived by his wife Anne-Marie Lukca Alderman of Leesburg, FL., son, Ira Alderman of Vero Beach, FL, Step-sons Daniel McCarthy of Leesburg, FL: and William McCarthy of Nolensville, TN, grandchildren, Spencer, Alex, Connor, Andrew, Samuel and Ryan, sister Sharon (Claire) Alderman of Milford, CT, and Irwin'Joe/Butchie Alderman of Wallingford, CT. He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Mary Lillian Alderman, and siblings, Morris, Jacki, and Iris Alderman, sister Doris Alderman Letttick and Barbara Alderman Coughlin, Harold served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from Jan. 1942 to July of 1946. He was a combat disabled Veteran who was shot down four times in the South Pacific in WWII. He attended the University of Miami and received a Science Degree with Majors in Bacteriology and Microbiology in July of 1951 and taught at the University of Miami Medical School. Harold worked for the Florida Department of Health as an inspector and then a supervisor in the Environmental Health Section of the Miami Dade County Health Department for 34 years until he retired in September of 1992. Over the years, he enjoyed playing golf and always watching live and broadcast sports. He will long be missed and remembered by his family and friends and especially by his beloved wife of 42 years, Anne-Marie.
A Visitation will be held at the Lady Lake Chapel of Beyers Funeral Home on Friday, April 9, 2021 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held, with full Military Honors provided by the U.S. Army, at 3:00pm following the Visitation. Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL at a later date.
