Harley F. Baker died peacefully in his sleep Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Cottagewood Senior Community in Rochester.
Harley was born on June 8, 1940, in Maryville, MO to Frank V. and Leona A. Baker. His family moved to Moorhead, MN where he graduated from Moorhead High School. He earned a bachelor's degree from Moorhead State College and a master's degree from Mankato State University. On July 23, 1960, Harley married his high school sweetheart, Barbara J. Gade. The couple lived in Moorhead, Badger, Adams, Alexandria and Preston, MN before settling in Rochester in 1978.
Harley is survived by his daughter, Sue (Pete) Bromelkamp; son, Mike (Deb) Baker; grandchildren, Jessi (Dan) Flaaen, Nikki (AJ) Yusten, Shawn Bromelkamp, Kyle (Sarah) Baker, Alyssa Baker, Tim (Ashley) Baker, and Justin (Bridget) Sanborn; nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Nina (Doug) Harr. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barb Baker; brother, Stephen Baker; sister, Carolyn Baker; and son, Alan Baker.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at the Co-Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Rochester, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.
Memorials are preferred to Habitat for Humanity, Mayo Clinic's Alzheimer's Research Center, or Season's Hospice.
