Gwen Louis Bock, 84, of Blue Ridge Summit, PA passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. After bravely battling dialysis and an array of other health issues, she died peacefully at Chambersburg Hospital with her beloved family by her side. Gwen was born on February 8, 1939, in Pen Mar, MD to Omar "Junie" and Mary Benchoff. As a young girl she enjoyed dancing, singing, and was a talented piano player. Gwen graduated from Thurmont High School with the class of 1957 and immediately started her career in Washington, DC. Gwen found her way back to the Blue Ridge Summit area to start her family and continued her career at Grove Manufacturing for 29 years. She married Joseph Bock on March 13, 1981, and the two were a big part of the Blue Ridge Summit community. Gwen and Joe loved traveling and vacationing in Florida and Kent Island. By far, Gwen's life was dedicated and surrounded by her grandchildren, Mariah, Haley, and Kelley to who she was known as "Gaga". She played a vital role in their lives from weekend visits and school pickups to helping with college and always being someone to go to. She also was incredibly blessed by the recent births of her great grandchildren, Olivia and Tate and raved about meeting them. In her late years, Gwen lived and was graciously cared for by her daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Jim in Saxton, PA where she loved the beautiful mountain area. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph Bock, and her daughter, Tora Kelley. Gwen is survived by daughter, Melinda Ice (Kelley) and son-in-law, Jim Ice of Saxton, PA; grandchildren, Mariah Varner of Blue Ridge Summit, PA, Haley Varner of Thurmont, MD, Kelley Smith (Mong) of Blue Ridge Summit, PA; great grandchildren, Olivia Smith and Tatum "Tate" Staub; and many other beloved friends and relatives. The family will hold a celebration of life at Pen Mar Park, please contact the family for more details. Gwen's care has been entrusted to the Acacia Society of Sabillasville, MD.
