Guy Martin Francis, Jr., passed away on July 19, 2022 in Knoxville, TN, at the age of 68. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Guy M. Francis, Sr., of Chattanooga, TN. He is survived by his sisters, Mary F. Corrigan, of Nashville, TN, and Elizabeth F. Kaleida ( Dr. Phillip) of Knoxville, TN. He was the beloved uncle to six nieces and nephews: Frank W. Corrigan, III (Meaghan), Erin C. Vallett, Daniel M. Corrigan (Heather), Andrew R. Kaleida (Meryl), Alex R. Kaleida (Anna) and Emily K. Castilla (Dr. Elias), in addition to 13 great-nieces and nephews.
Martin graduated from Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga in 1972. There he was a star wrestler - becoming the first four-time state champion in Tennessee history. His record remained intact for twenty-five years.
Martin traveled the world during his career in the Air Force. Upon retirement from the Air Force, he was a member of the Air National Guard. His military service spanned three decades.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Knoxville, TN, on Saturday, July 23, at 11 AM. His body will be transported on Monday, July 25, to Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Chattanooga, TN, for burial alongside his parents and paternal grandmother. Fr. Mike Nolan will conduct a graveside service at Mt. Olivet at 11 a.m., Monday, July 25. Friends are welcome to attend.
