Gregory Wayne Scholten, known to his loved ones as Greg, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2023, at the age of 75, in Traverse City, Michigan. He was born on July 3, 1948, in Cadillac, Michigan, Greg was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
Greg was a family-oriented man who cherished his loved ones above all else. He was married to his devoted wife, Sally Scholten, for 39 wonderful years. Together, they built a strong and loving partnership. Greg's children, Delsie Scholten, Michelle (Leo) Little, Christina (Kevin) Baker, Jonathan (Mary) Nolf, and Rebecca (Ryan) Colvin, were the pride and joy of his life. He adored his grandchildren, Erica Scholten, Devin (Rex) Torney, Cassidy Baker, Shelby Townsend, Reed Baker, Lorna, Dalton, Carter Little, Kylee, Joey, Rylynn Colvin, Jonathan Nolf, Kaylyn, Bella, Jazz, and Ari Kiosterud. He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Savanah Scholten and Raine Torney. Greg's sister, Barb (Jack) Baughan, and brother, Percy (Joan) Scholten. Greg also leaves behind his mother-in-law, Ruth Nolf, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Merle Nolf, and his
parents, Wayne (Harriett) Scholten and Illean (John) Grice. Father- in -law Merle Nolf.
Greg had a zest for life and enjoyed various hobbies. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, finding solace in nature's beauty. Greg also had a competitive spirit and loved spending time bowling with friends and family. Softball was another sport he loved to play. However, his greatest joy came from being with his grandchildren, creating lasting memories and sharing laughter.
A celebration of Greg's life will be held on November 18th at 2 PM at the American Legion Post 94 in Cadillac, Michigan. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place.
Greg Scholten will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted family man, a friend to many, and someone who found joy in life's simple pleasures. His legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
