Greg was born October 21, 1953 in Akron to the late Richard Prunty and Nancy (nee Jones) Adkins. Greg is preceded in death by his father Richard Prunty and step-father Harley Adkins. He is survived by daughter Brittany Prunty, son Zack Prunty, grandsons Colt and Cash, mother Nancy Adkins and 10 siblings: Richard (Carol), Sue Young (Dan), Val Robart (Dennis), Ray (Pam), Lisa Kellogg (Brian), Kelly Foreman (Marty), John (Carol), Jen VanCuren (Curtis), Chris Johnson (John) and Brian Adkins. Greg also enjoyed the many, many nieces and nephews that he had as a result of all of his siblings.
Greg was born in Akron, Ohio and was the owner Greg’s Towing for over 40 years. Greg had also been an owner of A-1 Towing and Bondurant’s Towing that then became Greg’s Towing. Greg was a mentor to many in the towing business, not only in the greater Akron area, but to many throughout Ohio. Greg served as a Past President of The Ohio Towing Recovery Association and served on the Towing Review Board for the City of Akron for a number of years. Greg had also been a stock car owner and driver over the years as well as having a team that he owned which did ARCA racing. Greg was the owner of Barberton Speedway which he took great pride in trying to make the racing experience more enjoyable for those who attended and raced there.
Greg was a friend to all that he met and if you needed anything, Greg was always willing to help you. Many would say that Greg’s presence first overwhelmed you when you met him, but by the time you got to know him he was truly a gentle giant. There are many friends, associates and others that are too many to list, but just know that Greg never forgot a name or face and each and everyone had a special place in his life.
