Gregory (Greg) Randall Licht, 72, of Reno, Nevada left this earth on November 23rd, 2020.
Greg was born in Wyandotte, Michigan, to Carl and Bernice Licht and was elder brother to Diana (Tudy) Licht. The family moved to Farmington, Michigan, in 1955. Greg attended North Farmington High School, where he excelled in gymnastics, and was a member of the choir. He graduated from Michigan Tech University in Houghton with a degree in Business Administration.
Greg was a man of many interests, endless curiosity, and a strong drive for adventure. After graduation he left Michigan and never looked back. He started with a reporting job in downtown Chicago. Next, he found mill and construction work as an excuse to head west to Colorado. While there, he enjoyed skiing to the extent of joining the ski patrol.
His next stop was Kuna, Idaho, where he found a new hobby of team roping in rodeos. There he stumbled across the Longhorn Saloon and met the love of his life, Cathy Fisher. They married in 1979 in the ghost town of Silver City, Idaho.
In 1981, they and their newborn daughter moved to Pocatello, Idaho, for a job with a local television news station. However, Greg was an entrepreneur, and soon started Greg Licht Productions. This path led him on many adventures including producing "The Sturgis Official Video" from 1989-1993.
For the next two decades Greg spent much of his free time on his Harley. He became President of ABATE, organizing many events including poker runs and the Mackey Biker Rodeo. In 2005 Greg and Cathy moved to Reno and he worked for Jackson's as a regional maintenance supervisor until retirement. However, for his last stop, he resumed work guiding mine tours in Virginia City, Nevada, pursuing a life-long fascination with the history of the American West.
A generous spirit and natural community-builder, Greg will be remembered for his knowledge, talents, and by the many friends he met along his way.
As brother of Tudy, husband to Cathy, father of Carrie, and grandfather of Nolan, he will be dearly missed.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date in Virginia City.
