Gregory Lee Beckley, age 70, of Valdosta, died Saturday, February 15, 2020 at SGMC. He was born of Lutheran faith, on March 27, 1949 in Flint, Michigan to the late Russell and Betty Lou (Goodman) Beckley.
Mr. Beckley was employed for 27 years as a Captain with the Michigan Department of Corrections. During that time, he spread his love of Harley Davidsons with his Corrections "family". As avid riders, they most loved riding for children's charities.
While he had a meticulous passion for planes, trains and other model hobbies, Greg was born a musician. He started playing and teaching at a very young age, virtually playing any instrument he put his hands on. Nothing made him happier than sharing that passion with everyone, especially his kids and grandkids; unbeknownst to him, creating a generational legacy.
Most significantly, Greg was a mentor to all. Touching every heart he met. Spreading love through music, wisdom and generosity.
Greg is survived by his wife, Anna Marie Beckley of Valdosta; sons Jeffrey (Shannon) and Scott (Nicole) Beckley, all of Flint, Michigan; Adam Tilden of Little Rock, Arkansas; and Brandon Dykes of Eastman, Georgia; his daughters, Amy Riddle of The Villages, Florida, and Rainey NeSmith of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; his brother, Gary Beckley of Clio, Michigan; and sister Paula (Richard) Maddox of Flint, Michigan; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Beckley was cremated according to his wishes. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2020 from 2-7 p.m. at Montrose Pub, 10174 Vienna Road, Montrose, MI, 48457, (810) 639-7762. Condolences to the family may be conveyed at www.mclanecares.com. Carson McLane.
