Gregory Edward Barch, 75, of Waverly, Ohio passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio. He was born August 7, 1946 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Pearl Edward and Freida Olive Williamson Barch. On September 14, 1985 he was united in marriage to Charlene Simmons Barch who survives. Also surviving are sons, Aaron Barch of Texas and Scott (Rachel) Cutlip of Circleville; a daughter, Christy (Joseph) Conley of Maryland; grandchildren, Ethan Cutlip, Alex Cutlip, Ella Barch and Grace Barch; a great-grandson, Oliver Cutlip; brother, Eddie (Jill) Barch and niece, Carma Barch; sister, Beverly (George) Harris and nephews, Landon and Ashton Harris.
Greg was a firefighter for 46 years, was part of the start-up for EMS in Pike County, and had a 48 year career as an EMT and an EMT instructor. Greg supported the Waverly Marching Band as the "Medic" for Band Camp and as an Assistant Band Director. He also assisted with the Nipgen CCCU church camp as medical staff. He studied at Ohio State University and Shawnee State University and retired as Shift Superintendent after 31 years at Martin Marietta.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 11, 2022 at New Covenant CCCU in Waverly with Pastor Dale Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Bailey Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2022 at New Covenant and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
